Report on the IDD Rally - 25th September 2011 Venue – NTR Gardens to Eat Street, Necklace Road From 4.00 pm onwards
The Deaf Enabled Foundation organized a “Deaf Awareness March” on Sunday, the 25th of September 2011 to commemorate the International Deaf Day. The rally was flagged off by Shri. A.K. Khan Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad by the releasing of balloons at the entrance of NTR Gardens. The Awareness March began at 4.30 p.m. It passed through Necklace Road and ended near Eat Street.
Mr. Mohan, the President of the Rotary Club of Secunderabad Cantonment and other Board members of the Club joined the Awareness March to express their solidarity to the cause of the Deaf. Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. sponsored the water bottles that were distributed to participants throughout the march. The Hyderabad Police too played a very supportive role throughout the Awareness March.
This awareness march was attended by Deaf persons, their parents and family members of the Deaf, as well as well-wishers and supporters from the general public who support the cause of the Deaf. Participants of the Awareness March were seen showing the ‘I love you’ sign to all the people who passed by as a gesture of friendship and harmony.
Pamphlets giving information about Indian Sign Language and Deaf Culture were distributed to many people around. About 400 Deaf members participated in the Awareness March.
As the day came to a close the Deaf leaders exhorted and encouraged their members. They made formations of IDD and DEF for pictures to commemorate the occasion. |
