Urgent Appeal to help the Deaf survive this lockdown:
Present Estimates put the number of deaf persons in India at 18millions.
The Deaf Enabled Foundation (DEF) has been working since 2009 with the mission of achieving equal access for the Deaf in India. DEF is working to provide educational facilities and job placements, promote socio-cultural awareness and barrier free communication for the Deaf. All these functions are vitally important to the economic survival and future of lakhs of deaf youth.
5800 deaf students have been trained in the ‘DEF Skill Development & Training for the Deaf’ and of them 3900 Deaf people have been employed or are presently self-employed.
Since DEF relies entirely on Donors and Sponsors, our operations have been severely affected amid the Corona virus lockdown and we are urgently in need of funding to be able to continue our mission of providing education, skill development and to perform the critically important task of helping Deaf youth find employment amid the economic slowdown.
Your support, whether large or small will go a long way in helping us continue our operations and sustain our 9 centres along with our staff members .
